Title: Ukraine Jets
Post by: ScranJ51 on March 30, 2024, 06:34:17 PM
In an effort to combat the Russian forces, Ukraine was forced to utilize some old aircraft past their use-by-date.

But all hands to the wheel:

A Ukrainian YAK-38 UB pressed into service and dropping US retarded bombs

Does anyone know when the Ukrainian Naval Aviation actually retired their Yak-38s?

Nice colour selection for the Forger in this sort of role.

Does anyone know when the Ukrainian Naval Aviation actually retired their Yak-38s?

Cannot help with that, although why would they choose to lose pilots on purpose ? Not sure the Forger would survive any sort of modern air battlespace

Buzzbomb:

that is the suggested colour scheme (or pretty close) with the kit instructions.

As to why would they use the jet - agree it would be very vulnerable (and difficult to fly) on the modern battlefield - but that is the back story - they are so hard up for weapons they put them back into service.

See my other model of the Ukraine Su-27 utilising Western Weapons.

GTX - I should have a reference and will get back to you.

GTX,

Not specifically Ukrainian, but the last flight by a YAK-38 was in June 1991, the aircraft crashing on take-off leading to the fleet of aircraft being grounded.
