Title: Chengdu J-10
Post by: Daryl J. on October 21, 2013, 01:42:30 AM
In continuing with the Israeli-involved theme of the Kfir and the Lavi, put the J-10 into service with any Latin American nation that flew the Kfir.

My vote is Equador.

There was an article in Popular Mechanics back in the 90s about the Rockwell X-31.  There was a bit of speculative fiction at the beginning about Navy F-24s using the X-31's thrust-vectoring.  The first time I saw the Trumpeter J-10 kit, that's all I could think about.  The J-10 is a bit bigger than the X-31, but that's just what you'd expect from a matured design, right.  I'm thinking Navy VFA markings over low-vis grays, or maybe a CONA retro scheme.

Oooh, that's nice!  8) Jolly good work, ysi!  The J-10's slightly hunchbacked look works really well with this.

Chengdu once considered using the WP-15 turbojet, which is a locally-refitted Tumansky R-29-300 engine, on J-10 prototypes.

'Just figured that this seems like some sort of a parallel to the F-16/79......

On the basis Israel sold warplanes to Argentina and they need a replacement for their Scooters - well just a thought.
