Had a AUIII XR8 with hand built 5l Tickford motor, it was a beast but too heavy for my usual preference.

Is a 'pony car' a muscle car? If so, a subtle whif by Tom Klockau: a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk shortened before and aft of the rear wheels in an attempt to match the proportions of the '64 Mustang. (He also did a 4-door sedan version.) From here:
