As the subject sez, old kit. Started yesterday, Feb. 20.
Will be a real quickie real world build. The kit is moulded
in a strange metallic lavender plastic that rips and goes
to dust whn cut. Weird stuff and greasy.
Electronic packages are Vallejo German red-brown primer and Citadel Boltgun.
Ipad photo, minimum fixes.

Good! Go on!

Good! Go on!
I shall dear Christophe, I shall. :)
-
I never knew there was so much stuff for the interior...another one for the 'those parts have some potential
pile' eventually. ;) So what's the Whif?
-
The upper and lower instrument packages are 11 and 6 parts respectively.
No Whif, just a straightforward build.
-
Apart of the build, you could have whifing markings and/or colours, no?
-
Colors and markings will be real world.
-
The differences in plastic in older kits never ceases to puzzle me.
Still, it looks like you're off to a nice start given the challenges.
I'm going to enjoy watching this beauty come together!

Glencoe Explorer 1, done as it will ever be.
After these iPad photos were taken, I mounted the four antenna wires, from thin styrene rod,
painted them and dropped the whole thing while moving it for the 'beauty shots' with the
DLSR.
:-X
The only victims were the antennas, but I was done with those fiddly bastiches, so I called it
good and hung it from the garage ceiling.
So no beauty shots, these are what yer stuck with.

While researching the satellite I found a colour pic of it being mounted on the booster, lo and behold
the sandblasted casing of the Explorer was very similar in colour to the funky metallic purple used for
the kit mouldings.
So I cleaned up and masked off the bare plastic, painted the white (Tamiya Fine White Primer),
used aluminum furnace tape for the shiny bits and some tan craft acrylic for the tan bit, silver
Citadel acrylic and silver sharpie for picking out the antenna bases and rivets.

That's all folks.
I'll start - that looks outstanding Jon. ignoring the antennas (I can imagine how painful those would be), it looks museum quality! :)
