Beyond '46 Rules
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:26:50 AM »
1.  This GB allows anything that can fit between 1946 and 1952 as an extension of WWII.
This includes all forms of military things.
If you're unsure, file a proposal with the OOD and it will be taken under advisement.
We will be more inclusive with subject than with time frame (Beyond '46 is a lot of years!).

2.  Duration is May 1 - June 30 with a 2 week extension available if needed.
Speak up if you want one when the time comes.

3.  Be creative people!!!  Blow the box wide open and leave it in the rear view!

4.  Physical builds, profiles, stories, and any combination thereof will all be accepted.
    Collaborations are welcomed and encouraged.

5.  Partially constructed builds will be subject to approval prior to their inclusion.
We want to be inclusive in this issue.

6.  Posting entries in appropriate thread is responsibility of participants.

7.  When in doubt ask! We are jetboy and ysi_maniac.

I like those rules...I wonder why?  ;)

I vote for an extension now!  All those in favor say I please  ;D

They sound good to me man, honestly.  Can't wait for it to start.

Sounds reasonable.
Some other GB threads mention "build threads". Is that required, or is the final result what you primarily want to see?

I have some airplane drawings that I could redesign to fit the timeframe. Something like the turning of Yak-3 into Yak-15, which happened in the real-world. I'm assuming that this will be acceptable.

No fear of that. The drawings that I have in mind are already pretty firmly on the imaginary side of things, and changes to fit '46 will make them even more so....

Oh, another question.
Do the WW2 powers have to be aligned as in real-world, or are radical alternative history realignments allowed/encouraged?

At any moment from 1946 to 1952 alignments can change, of course.

No civilian? Why not? Many airlines continued operations of some sort during WWII in the RW, so
why wouldn't they in this continuation fantasy?

BOAC for one used converted Wellington bombers and, of course, they had the famous
Ball-Bearing Run Mosquitos. In both cases the aircraft were in RAF cammo with civil
codes. They also used several other types in similar schemes.

Ennis, the kit subjects are good, but the kits can be a real challenge.  I've got a few of Igor's creations and with a bit of work they do clean up good.

This one below is half an Unicraft kit, it's a conversion to make the RR Griffon mid-engined Mustang, you get all the fuselage stuff, the wings come from a donor kit.

Thinking about it, this would fit into the beyond '46 nicely but it would have been more like the bottom pic, I was told by David Birch (the official RR Historian) that had it flown it would have had a Tempest tail fitted. I've also modelled this to have a RR Crecy engine installed, this was to be a 5000 hp 2-Stoke engine. EDIT: That should read, a 5000 hp, 2-Stroke, V-12, sleeve valve engine with an exhaust turbine to boot.

Thanks for the info,my friends,I checked after I read the post and found they had changed it since I last was there !!! They added several new kits and more pictures as well.  I've built resin kits before and they can range from equal to or better to crap and anything inbetween . I've made masters for resin kits before so I know that it's mostly up to the caster than the master maker.  I've got too many things to finish before I can start anything else but I'm ordering some soon anyway !!!   LOL!!!  I'm just wondering if I want to order direct or thru Fantastic Plastic. Not really worried about either just depends on cost.

I've ordered directly from Igor and the models showed up within a month. This was back when he was forcing styrene into his molds by hand (a few pieces had fingerprints molded into the plastic) and one side was charred. The quality was pretty bad. Some of his earlier resin kits were not very good either, but that may have been due to the late 90's resins he had available.

Some of his newer models seem closer to average in quality.

I would get them through Allen, especially if he has the kits in stock and you need it NOW.

Thanks for the info ,guys. I've discovered that he has made some changes in his website and added some things. I'm using Fantastic Plastic for my first buy. I'm just trying to decide on what I want !!!   One idea I had was getting the turbo conversion and the Falcon wings for an FW-190.  I'm also wanting the Heilofly III /57. Now that would be Kool to have in real life, too.  Soon as I've built something you will be seeing it here.

I've been doodling on an early jet design drawing but the prototype (so far finished part of the "build") ended up in 1945.
Can that be considered part of my "entry", or should it remain a part of the "build"?
I do have a follow up in mind, that will go beyond 1946.
