Now that's pretty cool!  I wonder how 2 1/144 PBY planing hulls would fit on a 1/72 F-82. 
Then I would add the other Allison to the rear of the engine nacelle, Savoia-style.  Longer range rival to the Saro SR.A1!

It seems, according to Google, there are models of "snecma coléoptère 1/72" by Mach and Planet. That could give 4 quarters-of-circle wings for 2 models (like P-82 AND P-51)...

Ahem, P-80 Shooting Stars are not Mustang at all, while P-82 = P-51Z somehow. But a floatplane P-82 may have jets like a couple of P-80 (thanks!):

Tophe, you'll need some really, really big floats for a F-82 floatplane. The max T.O.W. for a F-82 is almost the same as a DC-3 (F-82 = 25,591 lbs, DC-3 = 25,199 lbs)and here's a pic of a DC-3 with floats (it was real world too with one still surviving today)

No:
- I "will need" nothing because I am not an engineer, endangering the life of pilots, I am a dreamer, "could" should replace "will";
- "really really/real world" is not my focus at all, I prefer dreams;
- the weight of my P-82 is not above 25,000lbs but below 1lbs, this is not a huge machine, this is a little paper/screen-picture (or maybe a plastic toy someday).
