I have a ,txt file I keep my diorama ideas on. They're by era or scenario and are usually created around kits I have or have seen and thought 'that would work perfectly with . . . '
Russian Civil War
- Deserters creating bronydrazinya.
I have a lot of early workshop elements and the thought of a cold, winter workshop where Russian ex-soldiers mix-and match armoured car elements onto an armoured rail car to flee war-torn Russia in just appealed to me.
- Horses deditching armoured car.
I was thinking the horses from the Tamiya 1/35 German Horse Drawn Field Kitchen as the kit's as cheap as chips
Second World War
- Australian Army Rhino and killed Sdkfz 222
I've always wanted to do the Rhino and I have an Sdkfz 222 with tons of PE
- M8 next to knocked out M5 destroying Japanese bunker. Japanese troops climbing onto tank and seen by supporting US marines.
I was musing on this when reading on the battles of the Australian and US Armies against Japan in norther New Guinea. It was largely a bunker war for the Japanese. The dio would be arranged in the-rule-of-threes with infantry tying the elements together. A Japanese Type 1 has knocked out an M5 Stuart with a flank shot. The accompanying M8 fires directly into the bunker. The gun and the tanks should not face directly at each other to maintain a dynamic situation so turrets should be turned etc. I wasn't sure how and more importantly where to incorporate a vertical element into it.
- Char B2 bis on rampage in Stonne.
Surely the greatest tank-on-tank fight of The Second World War. Makes Wittmann look like a poser
Twilight 2000
- Bunker Scene: "waiting for spring"
Mixed Warsaw Pact and NATO troops living in a bunker, waiting for the spring to come so they can head their separate ways home. I've always wanted to do a bunker cutaway
- T2K deditching. Laying out tow cables.
- Train crane-car lifting recon vehicles onto train
I got a 3d file for a massive hi-ab crane on an M35 for free off the net. It's rudimentary but can be added to. The idea for this just sort of grew out of that.
