Title: musical crossing : Chengdu F-7E and flute
Post by: ericr on December 28, 2013, 12:30:50 AM

Hi all,

coming back to a topic on "hybrids : aircraft & music instruments" from some time ago on another forum :
http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,37000.msg597452.html#msg597452 (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,37000.msg597452.html#msg597452)
I finally had a try at a musical crossing between a Chengdu F-7E and a flute, inspired, indirectly, by this record cover, especially some of the hybrids in the back :

So here it goes, made from a flute :

and a 1/48 Chengdu F7 :

and this is the result, in my usual favourite colors :

think you need to block up all the fingerholes except one & put a canopy over that .... oh yes, and load the intake with black-powder & a canon-ball !! ;D

ah, a canopy, yes indeed : actually on that record cover, the clarinet-based plane on the left has one, it looks more "inhabited" that way : I will try that on a next version of the concept ...

I hadn't thought of that, but it does look like a sail-vessel canon, seen from the front : a nice contrast in arm technology  :-\

with the airflow more musicwise  ;)

I've heard it has a very distinctive exhaust note.

This is giving me flashbacks of those interminable Flutophone lessons I had as a small boy in 3rd grade music class. I'll have to counter-act this with some AC/DC turned all the way up to 11...

Kudos on another incredibly imaginative model! Your use of diverse materials never ceases to amaze me!
