Here's my intended kit, Hasegawa 1/72 F-20 Tigershark. Haven't decided on markings or colors yet.

Don't know how much I'll get to work on it this week or when I'll get to the next update. We leave in the morning to head to the Gulf coast for spring break with the grandkids. I'll take my travel modeling kit, but I expect to be kept busy.

South Korean or RoC markings would seem suitable.

Did I mention that this F-20 was also getting new wings. Here it is with the new wings glued and clamped. I installed the original wings with the outer portion cut off. This gave me a solid surface to mount the new wings and also meant I didn't have to do any changes or reconstruction of the wheel wells.

And here is the upper view with the clamps removed.

(Sorry the photos aren't the best. They were taken with the cell phone under less than ideal lighting.)

Oh, that looks nice and it's quite the plausible way to do the modification. I will likely adopt a similar approach for a "big wing" F-20.
-
Oh yeah - like where this is going.
-
Looking towards an F-16XL sort of strike fighter?
-
Interesting. If Sth Korea did go with the F-20 (in any form), I guess the T-50 would be quite different.

Moe like a TF-20 with T-38/F-5B-style cockpits and forward fuselage grafted onto the center and aft fuselage portions and surfaces of a F-20; possibly with tip tanks in place of wingtip missile rails; cockpits would likely be "glass" ones, though. As it is, if you look at the details, the T-50 incorporates a whole lot of equipment originally developed for the F-20, even the AN/APG-67 radar of the AT-50 comes from the F-20. (Hmm, this is a temptation with several F-5B kits and F-20A kits). The modular forward fuselage nature of the design would allow this fairly easily.
I have heard it argued that the only company that didn't profit from the F-20 was Northrop.

This looks way cool!
I have some left over X-29 bits and was thinking of swapping out the F-20 tail.......
-
Ooooh, those wings look very cool!

Very promising!

Coming along.
Here it is with a coat of primer. Now I have to decide on what camo and color to paint it. Plan to start this weekend.

Nice update, Ed. One would never know those wings weren't part of the original kit.

Brian is right on the wings. I know how problematic wing swaps can be. You got super fit here.

Finished this one.

Nice! Your inclusion of the Japanese AAM and IR guided munitions is also a very nice touch.

That's a nice-looking, economy, light strike fighter. I like how you included what appears to be a targeting pod for the LGBs.
In "real life" the CG might be a bit too far aft to have the landing gear in that location, but, as Monty Python says, "It's only a model".
And a good looking one at that! ;)

Sonufagun that's great!
Love the way the new wing compliments the fin & rudder.
