FM!!!!! My favourite 1970s out-there-in-the-boonies band! My earliest introduction to synthesizers/ electronic music.
I saw them live in the 1990s here in Ottawa
My brother and Jeff Plewman (Nash the Slash) were quite close friends, he was devastated when he died.
Nash the Slash - Connections . . . the Wiki entry for Nash the Slash says this :-
'The "Nash the Slash" persona came from silent film, and Nash said he took his stage name from that of a killer butler encountered by Laurel and Hardy in one of their first films, Do Detectives Think? (1927), for which he composed a soundtrack score. (The film character's name is actually
"The Tipton Slasher"; nowhere on screen does "Nash the Slash" appear.)'
(My Bold)
The real "Tipton Slasher" was of course William Perry, the bare-knuckle boxer, see :-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Perry_(boxer)
and his statue, and the Fountain pub, are literally a five minute drive from where I live, likewise his resting place.
cheers,
Robin.
